Nathan Brake joined us last week from Insights, a people development company, for a week of work experience. He is a Video Production Specialist there and came to Casual for a few days to experience life inside a film production company.
Nathan, a man of few words himself, says he recognises the power in giving people a voice through film. He says that his passion is “making documentaries on social injustices in the hope to bring about change.”
He’s more or less a one-man team back at Insights, so here Nathan learned a bit more about what it would be like to work with a larger group of passionate filmmakers. Nathan got to grips with lighting set-ups, filmmaking techniques, the differences between cameras, and how to approach new projects.
Nathan worked with Kirsty to shoot a few interviews for the ‘Meet the Team’ videos that will soon be featured on our website. He also took on the difficult task of trying to get us to warm up to the camera in the chilly March weather. Bianca commented that, by the end of his rooftop filming day, he had “already turned into a popsicle”.
At the end of the week, he successfully bribed his way into all of our hearts with delicious cake. Nathan says that he found the whole experience “very informative and fun” and when quizzed, he described his week as "an experience"... That's good, right?
